Win Zone and Hot Spot

Breakthrough – Speed Maps that tell you the winner!

Successful players of the races have long known about the importance of Speed Maps – the diagrams that tell us where each horse is likely to settle in the run and the expected tempo of the race. Speed Maps are important because the tempo of a race has a lot to do with determining which horse is going to win. In races run at a slow tempo horses racing up on the pace are favoured. Because they’ve had an easy run up front, these gallopers have good energy reserves left for the final run home. Horses racing back in the field therefore have trouble picking them up in the home stretch. Conversely, when leaders take each other on and the pace is a ‘cracker’, they are often ’spent’ early in the home straight, and the race is set up for horses to come from back in the field and win.

Aussieraces.com has achieved a breakthrough with Speed Maps. Following extensive research of hundreds of races we can now not only predict where horses will settle in the run and the expected tempo of a race, but can also identify the specific area of the field where the winner of the race is likely to come from.

The facts about Speed Maps you should know are –

(1) Win Zone – Depending on the tempo of a race, the track and field size, there is located in a field a cluster of positions where the winner is most likely to come from. Horses racing in this area have a higher than average win rate because they usually get the best runs in the race – they cover little or no extra ground and are also protected from the negative effects of wind resistance. This area is called the Win Zone. The Win Zone usually can be honed down to just four positions in the field. Aussieraces.com’sresearch shows that the likelihood that the winner will come from the area highlighted as the Win Zone is around 50%*. (*We studied hundreds of races and found that the frequency that the winners came from the four positions identified as the Win Zone was 49.2%).

From a punting point of view the importance of the Win Zone is huge. Basically, horses racing within the Win Zone get the best runs in the race (barring interference) and therefore have improved prospects of winning. This of course does not mean that a hurdler positioned in the Win Zone in a 1200 sprint event is going to be able to win it. However it does mean that a horse which is a chance in a race will have its chances of winning significantly improved by being positioned within the Win Zone.

(2) Hot Spot – There is a specific position within the Win Zone that is the most ideal place for a horse to be in running. Horses racing in this position typically get the ‘run of the race’. Statistics show that more horses win from this position than from any other. (Note : The Hot Spot position is not necessarily the ‘box seat’ – its actual location depends on the race tempo, track and field size)

In all of the races that aussieraces.com cover we provide you with Advanced Speed Maps which show the position in the field where each horse is likely to settle and also the tempo of the race. Also highlighted are both the Win Zone and Hot Spot to assist you to find the winners –
